About us

Tony Wellman Electrical (TWE) was established in 1994 by wife and husband duo, Heather and Tony Wellman, after having run a local plumbing and electrical wholesalers prior.

The family owned and operated business has been going strong for 30+ years, with their reputation of being trustworthy, friendly, reliable, and tidy operators on every job site.

In 2023, Lucy and Ian Walsh became the proud co-owners of TWE after years of working together with the Wellmans.

You’ll often find Tony or Ian working through evenings and weekends, always fixing something, while Heather and Lucy run all aspects of the business from bookings to ordering supplies and providing the friendliest customer service.

As well as running the business, the Wellman’s and Walsh’s have a history of being heavily involved in the local community, from fundraisers to volunteering, they’re always supporting people in the area. A big part of that work is around the Wanaka Volunteer Fire Brigade, where Ian is a Senior Volunteer Fire Officer, and Tony, a proud volunteer for 30+ years, is now the Chief Volunteer Fire Officer. Heather is also on the local bridge committee, and enjoys the challenge and social aspect the game brings to Wānaka.

Ian and lucy are originally from Australia, They’ve been calling Wānaka home since 2014, and are now happily settled here with their two children. They enjoy skiing in winter and hiking and camping in the summer.
